How We Solved This: Focussing International Impact

Canada will host the G7 Summit in 2025. When we hosted the same summit in 2010, government and civil society leaders of the day managed to prioritize one set of issues to mobilize the full weight of international political will and development assistance. The G8 Muskoka Initiative on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health impacted the lives of millions of women as a result.

To understand how government and civil society worked together to achieve an unprecedented degree of focus, we interview former CIDA President Margaret Biggs and former Plan International CEO Rosemary McCarney. Together they tell the unlikely story of how a team that encompassed the political level, the public service and civil society came together to bring focus when Canada's opportunity to lead came.
